AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION

The Zero Mile Towing Advantage

Towing
Q: How much weight can Suzuki models tow?
A: XL-7 towing capacity - 3,000 lbs.
Grand Vitara towing capacity - 1,500 lbs.
Vitara V6 towing capacity - 1,500 lbs.

Being Towed
Q: What models can be towed with four wheels on the ground?
A: Any model with four-wheel drive can be towed with four wheels on the ground. The model can be equipped with a manual or automatic transmission. The two-wheel drive Aerio Sedan and SX can be towed with four wheels on the ground only if they are equipped with a manual transmission.

Q: How can I flat tow my vehicle?
A: Towing a four-wheel drive model:

Before Towing:
Turn the ignition to the "ON" position. Make sure the "4WD" light on the instrument cluster comes on when the transfer lever is shifted to "4H" position and goes off when the transfer lever is shifted to the "2H" position.

To Start Towing:

1. If equipped with an automatic, leave the shift lever in Park. If equipped with a manual, leave the shift lever in 2nd gear.

2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.

3. Shift the transfer lever into neutral.

4. Make sure the "4WD" light on the instrument cluster is off.

5. Turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position to unlock the steering wheel.

6. Release the parking brake.

During Towing:

Stop towing the vehicle every 200 miles. With the transfer lever still in neutral, start the engine. If equipped with a manual, leave in 2nd gear with clutch engaged. If equipped with an automatic, shift the lever to "D," drive. Rev the engine for about one minute to circulate the oil in the transfer case. For the automatic, return the shift lever to "P," park. For the manual, leave the shift lever in 2nd gear.

Towing a Two-Wheel Drive Model:

• The Suzuki Aerio sedan and SX can be towed with four wheels on the ground if equipped with a manual transmission and does not accumulate tow miles.

Before Towing:

1. Unlock the steering wheel.

2. The ignition key should be in the "ACC" position.

3. Release the parking brake.

4. Put the transmission in neutral.

For information on how to tow using a tow dolly, please consult the Suzuki owner's manual.
